Events & Social

Throughout the year, the Broadmoor Curling Club (BCC) holds various events for members and those interested in the sport of curling.  If you would like to receive emails from the Broadmoor Curling Club to notify you of upcoming events such as those listed below, click on the Subscribe to Club Emails link on the menu on the left. 

  • Learn to Curl Clinics - provide an opportunity for the general public to learn the basic skills of the game in addition to scoring and basic strategy.  You'll have a chance to play a game. Come out and join us!  Learn why Curling is the fastest growing sport in the USA.  For information on Learn to Curl clinics click on the Learn to Curl Clinics link on the Home page.
  • Leagues - We offer Fall, Winter and Summer Leagues.  For information on our current leagues click on the Leagues link on the Home page and to register go to Upcoming Events on the home page.  You must be a club member to participate in our leagues.  On the last night of each league we hold an 'End of League party with food and drink while prizes are distributed.
  • Bonspiel - 2014 will mark the 9th Annual High Altitude Bonspiel at the World Arena in Colorado Springs.  This annual event is normally held during the final weekend of April each year and attracts teams from across the US and Canada - with an emphasis on FUN!  Click on the bonspiel link on the home page for more details.
  • Social nights and fundraising - through the year we hold social events at various restaurants/bars in the Colorado Springs area.  The BCC earns money on the revenues at these events.  Come and mingle with other curlers, hear some great curling stories, enjoy great food and drink and help raise money for the BCC.  Social nights are open to the general public, folks will be on hand to answer any questions you have on curling.
  • Corporate Events - the BCC provides an opportunity for corporations to host Team Building Events through a private Learn to Curl clinic.  For more information click on Learn to Curl Clinics on the home page
  • Winter Sports Clinic - Members of the BCC join the Veterans Administration in Aspen/Snowmass each year to provide curling clinics to disabled veterans each year in the late March early April time frame.  For more information on adaptive curling, contact John West ajwest2@mindspring.com
  • Annual General Meeting and our End of Season Party is open to all members and the public.  Come and find out all we did this year and our plans for next year!  Thinking about volunteering, we could use your help! Register to attend under the Upcoming Events on the Home Screen.

    Come Join Us for a Skills Clinic!

    The Broadmoor Curling Club invites you

    to a skills clinic  

    The Broadmoor Curling Club is holding a skills clinic for curlers. The emphasis of this clinic will be to work on delivery and sweeping technique. There will be an off  and  on ice portion for the training.  

     

    • There will be about 30 minutes of off ice training by USCA certified instructors
    • Sheets will be set up to work on delivery technique with video taping
    • Sheets will be set up to work on sweeping technique

    All equipment is provided. Wear warm clothing that is loose enough to allow for good range of motion. Sweatpants are a good choice and layers help. The arena is very cold. Some curlers find a hat and gloves comfortable out on the ice. Blue Jeans generally are not flexible enough for curling. You MUST wear clean athletic shoes, no crocs, high heels or leather soles, please.

     

    Pre-registration cost for the clinic is $25.00 per individual
    Please note: If you do not register and pay in advance the prices at the door will be as follows:
        Individual : $30.00     
     
      You can pay using Pay Pal or cash/check at the arena the day of the event.

    10th Annual High Altitude Bonspiel

    Our 10th Annual Bonspiel will be held April 24-26, 2015 at the World Arena in Colorado Springs.  We curl in the Ice Hall which is the building just south of the main World Arena.  This is an 'Open' team format bonspiel, meaning teams can be made up of any number of female or male participants.

    Early Bird Special is $420.00 per team or $105.00 per individual and you must register and pay by 28 February 2015

    Fee is $500.00 per team or $120.00 per individual for registrations and payments received March 1 or later. We will form teams from individual entries, please indicate which position you wish to play. Your bonspiel entry fee includes:

    • 4 game guarantee
    • 24 team maximum, we will fill up quickly for this popular bonspiel
    • Specially installed ice, we offer the best arena ice!
    • Dinner/Banquet Saturday night at Hotel Elegante
    • Lunch Friday, Saturday and Sunday
    • Continental Breakfast each morning at the arena
    • Hospitality Suite Saturday night at Hotel Elegante
    • Prizes and Silent Auction
    • Snacks after each game

     

    Draws on Friday will be at 9AM, 1130AM and 2PM.  The 2PM draw if very limited.  All teams curl Friday during the day! Please plan accordingly.

    Each team will receive 4 dinner tickets for the dinner/banquet Saturday night at the Hotel Elegante.  Extra dinner tickets are available for $35.00 for adults and $15.00 for children 12 and under.  If your team would like to purchase additional tickets for your spares/alternates or family/friends, we must know by April 19th so we can give the hotel an accurate head count for dinner.     Our Host Hotel is the Hotel Elegante (10 minutes from the arena) and we have a block of rooms at $90.00 for a single or double, $100.00 for a triple and $110.00 for quad rooms.  Room rates include free internet access and full hot breakfast each morning for 2 in Rustlers Country CafĂ©.     Broadmoor Curling Club members will be required to work 4 hours of their time during the bonspiel.  You can sign up to help with ice install on Thursday, kitchen help, hospitality suite, silent auction, merchandise sales, ice take down, etc. As a member of the BCC by registering and paying your fee you agree to these terms.
